Many of Northeast Guide Service employees are Eagle Scouts. We have created Northeast Guide Service Whitewater Merit Badge Program to help scouts and troop leaders with opportunites for merit badge advancement without the tradition camp settings or as an alternative to other scout outings and trips.
We can custom trailer our program to fit a wealth of other groups. Girl Scouts, youth groups, and other organizations are more than welcome. Our trips and programs will help meet merit badge requirements for many badges such as Whitewater, Canoeing, Camping, Cooking, First Aid and Kayaking BSA skill award.

Boy Scouts from around the country have joined us as part of a trip to Maine High Adventue, the Allagash Wilderness Waterway, Mount Katahdin, and West Branch Penobscot. We are happy to provide instruction for Whitewater, Canoeing, Camping, Cooking, First Aid and Kayaking BSA skill award, on full-day and overnight trips. Some merit badges require multi-day trips to complete or can be finished on your next trip.
Our minimum group size for this adventure is twelve. Contact us if you have a smaller group and we will try to add you to an existing trip with another troop.
Scouts wishing to fulfill the requirements for the Whitewater Merit Badge will need to first complete the necessary first aid requirements or let us also help you with that.
A whitewater rafting trip on a Girl Scouts of the USA or Boy Scouts of America sponsored outing is sure to be the highlight of your troop's summer schedule. Maine is cool and refreshing in the summer and Northeast Guide Service is eager to help you with suceed "your adventure begins here"!
Frequently Asked Questions about Whitewater Rafting Trips
- Minimum number of participants for Merit Badges is 12 people.
- All equipment provided. State-of-the-art self-bailing rafts, Type V lifejackets, paddles, helmets, all safety equipment, transportation, Registered Maine Guide in every boat, photo slideshow of the days adventure (available to purchase at an additional cost), and our famous river lunch are all included.
- Wetsuits are available at No Charge to all group pricing and are required on some trips.
- Video is available on any trip at an additional cost and must be requested in advance.
- All rates are per night and per person based on double occupancy.
- All rates are subject to an additional 7% lodging tax.
- Add an additional $39 per person to combine a Half-Day Kayak Trip to any group Package listed above.
- Add an additional $20 per person to ALL Packages on scheduled High Water Release Dates.

- Restrictions:
- CAMPING: Minimum group size of 2 on weekdays and weekends (with a 1-night stay).
- Sport Rafts are available for all Kennebec River rafting trips. Sport Rafts are the smallest rafts on the river. Everything looks and feels bigger. Sport rafts are also driven by only the most experienced guides.
- $20 per person for a 14' raft (6 person minimum)
- $30 per person for a 13' raft (4 person minimum)
* Sport Rafts guarantee that you will have your own raft.
