Northeast Guide Service - North Maine Woods Basecamp at Historic Pittston Farm

(May - September)


Directions to Northeast Guide Service (North Maine Woods Basecamp) and Historic Pittston Farm:

You'll find us in the North Maine Woods. Enjoy the trip. Enjoy the scenery.

* Take I-95 north to the Palmyra/Newport exit 39 and follow Rt. 7 north through Corinna to Dexter.

* Turn left after village of Dexter onto Rt. 23 (Moosehead Trail) toward Guilford. *Stay on Rt. 23 to the intersection of Rt. 15 northwest. You should see signs for Moosehead Lake and Greenville.

* Pass through Abbot Village and continue on Rt. 15 through Monson toward Greenville and Rockwood.

* In Greenville take a left at the blinking yellow light and continue north on Rt.15 to Rockwood. 

* Just after the Moose River Country Store in Rockwood, turn right off Rt. 15, cross the bridge and bear right onto the 20 Mile Road (this is a dirt road).

* Continue straight for 20 miles.

* Pittston Farm is 3 miles beyond the North Maine Woods Gatehouse checkpoint, located on the right side of the road just before the bridge and forestry station.

*There is a gate fee from May 1 to the last Sunday in November. However, for guests staying in the Historic Pittston Farm Lodge or cabins, no gate fee will apply.

* Remember to take in the breathtaking views of Moosehead Lake (Maine's largest lake) and Mount Kineo in Rockwood. 

* Drive slow, and always watch for moose and other wildlife while driving on all Maine roads. You never know what you might see!!!!

Northeast Guide Service - Sebago Lake Basecamp

(October - April)

We are located in the heart of the Sebago Lake Region at Northeast Guide Service (Sebago Lake Basecamp). We are 45 minutes from downtown Portland, Maine, or North Conway, New Hampshire, and 2 hours from Boston.   

From points North or East:

  • Take Exit 63 ME Turnpike I-95
  • Turn left onto US Rt. 202 / ME Rte 115 / ME Rt. 4 (3.5 miles)
  • Bear right onto ME Rt. 115 / Tandberg Trail. (3.6 miles)
  • Tandberg Trail becomes ME Rt. 35 (6.2 miles)
  • Turn right at blinking red light onto ME Rt. 114 (8.2 miles)
  • Turn left onto Porter Road 0.1 after Rockcraft Retreat Center (Northeast Guide Service Base)

From points South: 

  • Take Exit 42 ME Turnpike I-95
  • Turn left onto Payne Road (2.9 miles)
  • Turn left onto ME Rt. 114 (3.0 miles)
  • Turn left onto ME Rt. 114 / ME Rte 22 (0.8 miles)
  • Turn right onto ME Rt. 114 (18.2 miles)
  • Turn left onto Porter Road 0.1 miles after Rockcraft Retreat Center (Northeast Guide Service Base)

From points West: 

  • Take US Rt. 302 east
  • Turn left onto US Rt. 302 (2.5 miles)
  • Turn left onto US Rt. 302 / NH Rt. 113 (6.4 miles)
  • Bear right onto US Rt. 302 (15.0 miles)
  • Turn right onto US Rt. 302 (7.5 miles)
  • Turn right onto Me Rt. 114 (10.0 miles)
  • Turn right onto Porter Road 0.3 miles after the Sebago Post Office (Northeast Guide Service Base)
