The Seboomook Section of the West Branch of the Penobscot River has Class II through IV rapids in the spring and still runs into the summer with low-volume Class II and III rapids, which are great for family rafting trips. This historic and beautiful section of river is also know as the Penobscot River Roll Dam Section, site of former log drives. The Penobscot River Seboomook Section offers us a whitewater playground. The winter thaw and spring rains cause this section of Maine white water to become a boater's paradise. Ten distinct pool drop features in about 3 miles. We run this section of river twice and play each feature hard. We are the only commercial whitewater outfitter in Maine to provide river rafting on this section of water. In the summer the waters calm to a consistent daily water flow that is great for families, scouts, youth groups, and swimming. This Maine white water rafting trip is laid back and relaxing, while still tackling ten rapids and drops, twice!!!

Frequently Asked Questions about White Water Rafting Trips

• All equipment provided. State of the art self-bailing rafts, Type V lifejackets, paddles, helmets, all safety equipment, transportation, Registered Maine Guide in every boat, photo slideshow of the days adventure (available to purchase at an additional cost), and our famous river lunch are all included. Wetsuits are available at an additional cost and required on some trips.
• All West Branch of the Penobscot River trips meet at the Northeast Guide Service - North Maine Woods Basecamp at 8am.
• Video is available on any trip at an additional cost and must be requested in advance.
• Minimum 8 participants on guided trips or join an existing trip.
• Sport Rafts are available for Seboomook Section river trips. Sport Rafts are the smallest rafts on the river. Everything looks and feels bigger. Sport rafts are also driven by only the most experienced guides.
  • $20 per person for a 14' raft (minimum 6 people)
